Hello High Heelers
Oh my word! I almost broke my ankle wearing the hottest heels ever! (It was well worth the drama!) What happened? Well. Natalie Maroun, my boss, bought me the most beautiful sparkly pair of black and cerise platform heels ever made, for my birthday. And as you all know – I love shoes!
So I popped on my new heels (which are about 2 inches higher than my norm) and rushed off for a day of work and chaos. On the way I hit a huge traffic jam and ended up getting in to work about thirty minutes late. And when you’re a High Heeler on the move, there is just no time to waste. So I jumped out my car and did a speed-walk/running-thing in the basement parking towards my office. My foot hit the floor at an angle I’m just not used to and pain shot right up my leg. My ankle was well and truly twisted.
Shoot! So I ended up eek-ing and grimacing for a good two minutes before I could get back on track. I then limped through the parking lot in the hottest heels looking like a real dork. Though I looked great in principle, I did a good job of damaging my image by trying to run before I could walk. And you all thought it was a cliché, didn’t you?
Sometimes when you’re trying something new you need to pace yourself with the first few steps. Us ambitious High Heelers want to sprint into everything, but it’s not always good. If you push yourself further than you should you could damage yourself physically and emotionally and you could also end up damaging your image. It’s great to want to do more and to try new things, but it’s also vital that you’re aware of your own capabilities and that you don’t push yourself beyond them too early in your process.
May I suggest that you think big and then execute the ‘getting there’ in fast, but manageable steps? May I suggest that you keep aiming higher than others and that you get there through loads of wisdom and a sprinkling of caution? May I suggest that you wear the shoe, but practice the walk before you run in public? May I suggest that you do all these things while staying true to you?
You know, High Heelers, just because the shoe don’t fit today, it doesn’t mean it won’t tomorrow. You just have to get up, stand up and practice. The more you practice the better you’ll get. And before you know it you’ll be standing higher in your 8 inch platforms walking with ease.
Stand tall, in your highest heels this week and continue to aim higher and higher. Have a wonderful week!
Cheers,
Jo
