What a day! This morning I snapped my heel off – really, in the morning! Why it couldn’t have happened at a more reasonable time, like 4.50pm, I don’t know! So today I’ve been hobbling around like a hobble heeler – not sexy! So technically, I am not worthy of your heeled presences, but I ask you to bear with me none the less.
On the positive side, my stalking is going well. I have been keeping track of Natalie’s shoes all week. On Monday she wore her deep purple pumps that make her tall and sleek and she moves like a gorgeous purple panther in them. Tuesday she had these jewel-encrusted black heels that shimmer as she walks (I suspect they’re Jimmy Choos, but I didn’t get close enough to confirm this). On Wednesday she wore the cute black ones with the gold bows on the back and on Thursday she had on her beige snake-skin anklet peep-toes. Oooh then today – today she has these very elegant black Christian Louboutin’s on that I would steal and go to jail for. And why am I so obsessed with her shoes? Well, they give her stature, they’re her signature. They don’t just complement her outfits, they compliment her with every step. Her shoes have personalities of their own. If I was a braver stalker (and a kleptomaniac) I would creep into her cupboard and swipe the lot.
You may be wondering why I’m going on and on about shoes when I’m meant to be sharing tips with you (other than the fact that we all love them so much!) and I do have a point, I promise. The point is – quality. Quality makes you look good, stand tall and stand out. Quality is the foundation of everything we should be. I’m not saying you should spend your entire salary on a pair of Jimmy Choos, I’m just suggesting that we all remember that what lasts in the physical realm is quality (a pair of good shoes, a tailored black jacket and perfect-fit jeans) and what lasts in our professional realms is also quality (that kick-ass strategy, that well-delivered presentation and that brilliant budgeting).
The main thing that I’ve noticed in all areas of Natalie’s life is that she NEVER compromises on quality. She doesn’t eat cheap chocolate every day (like I do) instead she gets 4 Mango truffles from the chocolatier at Melrose Arch on a Friday (I managed to get my hands on one once – with permission, of course - yum!) Natalie would NEVER wear Bargain Bin specials that wash out and shrink (not even on weekends), she buys elegant designer clothes that last a lifetime (she has literally had some of her suits for 20 years). She buys her make-up at Metropolitain and she always delivers strategies that ‘wow’ her clients. It’s a whole package, everything about the quality she represents is inter-twined.
So this week I’m focussing on putting quality first. No more chocolate every day, it is not quality food (my goodness I’m going to miss it though!), no more buying sale items from cheap stores – they will only stretch and make me look frumpy. No more handing in half-thought-out proposals that I pushed through last minute just to meet the deadline. Quality is vital, it needs to be consistent and it requires hard work and sacrifice. Is anyone with me in this quest to banish the average and embrace the best? Let’s do it.
Well that’s it from me, for now. Do let me know what you think about the scary big Q. And keep putting your best heel forward my High Heelers.

Hi Joanne, this is great stuff. When I wish I'd written something; I know I REALLY like it.
Will be following your blog. Love the theme, love the humour.

Hmm...this Natalie lady sounds intruiging. Sadly, I absolutely hate high heels! I mean I love them, I think they're gorgeous and elegant and whatnot, but hate the things they do to my feet, its so unfair! So I'll just follow along with the principles and less with the actual shoes! ;-)
Well done Jo-Jo, well done!
Hi Bebe, thanks for the awesome encouragement. As someone who works with Natalie, I'm sure you will be able to relate to a lot! Enjoy it :)
